In 1993, WKBW Channel 7 embarked on a partnership with the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts. While the adoption is school-wide, Channel 7 focuses its attention and expertise on assisting the students with the medium of television and broadcast arts.Through the resources available at Channel 7, including local news, programming, promotion and public affairs, WKBW-TV can positively identify school activities to showcase for our audiences, as well as involve the student body in the production of local efforts to enrich their communications background. WKBW-TV staffers maintain an ongoing dialogue with administrators and students to assess needs throughout the course of the year.
This partnership has included donations of equipment with and talent (both technical and on-air) to give students real life lessons. In addition, WKBW TV has offered scholarship donations to worthy students and graduation gifts, as well as promoting various events from the school on our news and AM/Buffalo programs.
